Objective 2
The Objective 2 Programme for the South West of England provides financial assistance from the European Community towards the costs of projects aimed at promoting the economic regeneration of the programme area. The programme aim is to achieve significant and sustainable change in the prosperity of people, businesses, and communities within the South West Objective 2 area and to do so in ways which deliver economic growth and greater social inclusion and which enhance the natural and built environment. The programme has been developed in partnership and has involved extensive consultation with various communities of interest.
Three main programme priorities have been identified, these are:
Priority 1 – Neighbourhood Renewal
Priority 2 – Small/Medium Enterprise (SME Development, Technology, and Innovation)
Priority 3 – A better future for traditional economies
In addressing these priorities, projects should also take account of the three cross cutting themes that the programme will seek to promote. These are, Equal Opportunities, Information Society and the Environment. The project selection and scoring criteria have been developed to ensure that projects that take appropriate account of these themes will score better and be more likely to gain support.
