Business rates
Most businesses in North Devon must pay rates. The money collected from the Business rates goes direct to central government who then distribute monies nationally around the country based on the adult population in each area.
Help for businesses: business rates increase deferral scheme
Date:01 April 2009
The Government has announced that business ratepayers can put back payment of 60% of the increase in their 2009-2010 bills until 2010-2011 and 2011-2012.
What do business ratepayers need to do now?
You must keep paying your business rates as normal. North Devon Council will write to all businesses offering them the option to defer payments once the Government has made the necessary regulations. They expect them to be in place by the end of July.
