Licensing

The Licensing team provides the main licensing/registration function for the North Devon Council. Much of the work of the team is statutory, i.e. a legislative requirement. and centres around the protection of public health.

The team regulates many commercial activities and works in partnership with the commercial sector/service providers to ensure co-operation and development of a good working relationship.

The Licensing service aims to provide a safe, well-regulated environment, at places licensed by the council and to protect the interests of local residents. By licensing premises the council is able to ensure that licensees abide by licence conditions and regulations so that premises are well run and to ensure public safety. The council takes action against licensees who break their licence conditions.
