We are doing our very best to continue with ‘business as usual’ at this time. However, we also have to consider guidance from the government, so we have decided that we will not be holding any non-essential meetings for the time being.

For agents and applicants, the best way to contact us about specific applications is to email or phone your case officer direct and copy in planning@northdevon.gov.uk.

General enquiries should be sent to planning@northdevon.gov.uk. Our Planning Support Team will make every effort to respond as quickly as possible but you may find that there are delays over the coming weeks.

Viewing planning applications, documents and making representations – this can be done through our online planning service.

There are no plans at present, to cancel or defer Planning Committee meetings but should this decision be taken then the website will be updated.

To report a breach of planning, all enquiries should be sent to enforcement@northdevon.gov.uk and our enforcement team will respond as soon as possible. Please see the website for further information on our planning enforcement service.

Changes to construction site working hours to enable social distancing working practices.

On 13 May the government announced that some constructions sites can start work again.

Before work can start we need a written request from the developers setting out the reference number of the application and the condition they want to vary. Our Planning Team will then make a decision on this within 10 working days where possible.

Requests to vary a condition should be sent to planning@northdevon.gov.uk

Full details about the announcement and the process involved with changing working hours can be found on the government coronavirus (COVID - 19): construction update Q&A.

Planning meetings

The Planning Committee on 15 April 2020 was postponed until further notice.

Legislation has now been passed to enable virtual committee meetings to take place.  We are currently exploring the options available to us to enable virtual meetings to take place.  As soon as we have an appropriate system in place, we will be in contact to arrange virtual meetings.

Information about all our planning services is available in the planning section of this website.
