The council is part of CosyDevon, an energy saving scheme run by all Devon local authorities. There are various schemes currently running.

Pioneer Places from CosyDevon

Letters have been sent out to homeowners and private rented properties in selected areas of North Devon, who could qualify for grants of up to £7,000 to help insulate their homes.

The scheme is now closed to new applications, although households already in receipt of an E.ON quote may still be considered.

Free insulation and replacement boiler

If you are a Devon homeowner, private landlord or their tenant on income related benefits, you could also be eligible for:

  • free loft insulation
  • free cavity wall insulation
  • a replacement 'A' rated boiler if your current boiler is broken or isn’t working properly and installed before 2005. (There will be a contribution required to the cost of replacement boilers through this offer)

Central heating fund

If you own your own home or are a private tenant, are off the gas grid but able to be connected, in receipt of particular benefits or with a low income and have a health condition (made worse by living in a cold damp home), you could qualify for a gas connection, central heating and advice on how to use the new system. More information is available on the CosyDevon website.

Are you warm enough for 2018?

From April 2018, private landlords will be required by law to get their properties to an energy efficiency rating of at least Band 'E'. After this date properties that don’t meet this standard will not be legally allowed to be rented to new tenants.

Meanwhile, from April 2016, tenants can request energy efficiency measures to be installed at their property to improve the property’s energy performance rating. This should reduce heating bills.

With our partners Cosy Devon, we are helping landlords and their tenants insulate their properties for free and get funding towards new gas boilers.
